Good family movie, boring at some parts.

Terrible! The whole premis of the movie is cringeworthy: a 'war' with a grandpa and his grandson over a bedroom. Really? Inclusion of a few Hollywood A lister actors did not help redeem this terrible storyline. Worst movie I've watched in a long time.

Kind of fun. Not all great. A must see for the old timers themselves. Other than that, it’s kind of disposable.

Fantastic family film that we all thoroughly enjoyed. Once again the critics are so out of touch with the masses, gotta keep those blue check marks happy....

A film with a cast list that includes Robert De Niro, Uma Thurman, and Christopher Walken  can't help but be good right...  "The war with Grandpa" is a 2020 comedy that has Grandpa ( Robert De Niro ) move home to live with his daughter and her family after the loss of his wife leaves him depressed and prone to random supposed comedic outbursts.  Due to the need for Grandpa to have his own bedroom his grandson is moved into the attic from a different film ( possibly a horror film currently filming on the next sound stage, given that bats and mice roam freely and the fact an odd rat and a major leaking roof have never caused any previous issues. ) This causes a comedic ( well if the jokes actually landed correctly ) set of circumstances during a supposed war for ownership of the bedroom.  Even both the very experienced Walken and De Nero struggle with the physical humour, that they are subjected to, which comes across as mean rather than funny.  This is a comedy that would suit up to a 10 year old given the jokes and slapstick physical humour , but any one older would just question WHY?  I rated it 1 for an odd moment that did make me chuckle ..but really ... Don't waste your time.

I enjoyed seeing the old timers and it was laugh outloud funny!

My kids age 6 and 8 and myself loved the movie! So funny!

It won't win any award but that doesn't matter. It's a fun comedy to pass an hour and half. I've seen far worse, and I got a cuckle from the various antics that take place. Definitely worth checking out. The low tomato rating is a bit unfair IMO. It should be more about 50%.

Rubbish. Everything about 'The War with Grandpa' just feels off, nothing feels right to me. What doesn't help is that the first 25-30 minutes are extremely dull, like utterly and truly boring. Once the premise gets underway it slightly improves, yet still produces nothing to remember. Even the 'war moves' that feature fairly cool scenarios just come across as very underwhelming. The acting across the board is subpar, at best. That's a major disappointment, given Robert De Niro (Ed), Uma Thurman (Sally) and Christopher Walken (Jerry) are involved. I don't necessarily feel like they weren't trying or anything, but I just didn't sense any spark from them. The kid actors, meanwhile, are average. Despite a relatively short run time of 94 minutes, I was gagging for the end credits for a rather long while. With that said, knowing me I'll still probably check out the apparently upcoming 'The World War with Grandpa' sequel in a few years...
