For the life of me, I can't recall seeing a movie franchise I've ever seen that has redeemed itself like this one has. If you enjoyed the first film, wait till you see this absolute epic! Conversely, if you were disappointed as many viewers were in the first film, again I tell you... wait till you see this absolute epic! I honestly have never officially reviewed a film for the public to see despite rating over 1,000 films on IMDb over the last 10 years or so, despite being tempted to do so many times, ranging from giving horrible ratings to fantastic. Yet this movie here came up against all odds. I only watched this movie because I really quite enjoyed the experience of watching "Occupation", the first film despite its many flaws. It had a really average script, storyline and dialogue, illogical motives, with mediocre directing and acting but incredible special effects and great potential to be another typical Hollywood blockbuster. This movie, "Occupation: Rainfall" however, I expected to be either potentially worse or slightly better. Instead, it far exceeded my expectations, and I was literally glued to the screen from start to finish. If you want to see an epic movie, watch "Occupation: Rainfall", and ignore the bad reviews. If you are one who's not capable of being able to handle a bit of cheese in movies, you could probably even get away with missing the first film, and instead going straight onto this one. If you can suck up your critical thinking however, watch the first film so you can get a greater look into the backstory of Occupation: Rainfall's world and characters. "Occupation: Rainfall" did have a few flaws, but not bad enough to waist my time on criticising. I'm certainly glad I watched the first film, because I would not have had the absolute pleasure of knowing about this fantastic film, and watching it. Kudos to Luke Sparke for enduring much criticism from his previous film, of which I presume he humbly took on board the useful feedback, because if he hadn't, I can't see how he could have proceeded to create a movie of such redeeming value. I rate this film 4 out of 5 stars.

A formulaic and predictable storyline, with no plot twists or surprises. A linear story. The usual petrol bomb explosions for everything, fine if you like that sort of thing. Alien costumes have some good aspects, sometimes there are major faults (clearly see human face behind). As for realism of how the fighting is conducted in the story, with jet aircraft operating unmolested from pristine runways after allegedly years of fighting, that is laughable. The film can't decide if it wants to portray an Independence Day style combat of intact forces, or a Terminator style urban guerilla war, or Mad Max convoy being hounded by aliens who can't aim for toffee and that somehow finds a narrow clear road through acres of rubble without any destroyed vehicles blocking those behind. In hand-to-hand fighting some of the elite aliens (who again couldn't hit a barn door at ten paces) manage to get knocked out with barely a scratch. With this film you have to suspend all disbelief, lock it away in a cupboard, and just let the nonsense wash over you. On the positive side, there is some good heartfelt acting that shines through and one or two humorous characters to lighten things up.

All FX....zero coherence to story, or any acting. Terrible movie. Avoid. I'm a big fan of sci-fi....but this is rubbish.

Totally enjoyed this movie. The good vs evil even among themselves. Looking forward to seeing chapter 2, hopefully with the same cast. This movie did well despite the critics.

For an Australian movie, this was great! Graphics and special effects were terrific. Slight bit of cringe with Steve the Alien but Aussies love that sort of comedy. Great story line.

Man was this movie boring. The plot was terrible and had no hooks. They literally developed the hook throughout the movie with zero reason to get you to keep watching. Was the explosions good? Yes, but that's literally it. I was honestly rooting for the bad guy the entire time because it honestly irritated me that this chick is trying to talk peace with a race that wants no peace and almost all of humanity is dead. But no, kill the one guy that has the means to defend the planet because, "think of the alien children!" I cant believe people liked this movie...

Watched this one the other night on Prime Video and I was pleasantly surprised. It isn't a great movie by any means, but it has been an awful long time since I have seen this kind of Australian film making so on that front it's a breath of fresh air. The acting is pretty low-budget, the CGI isn't the greatest, but... It's something unusual from the Australian film industry that I haven't personally seen since 1987's "the Time Guardian". All in all I don't think most people will appreciate it, but if you like low-budget sci-fi then it's worth a look. It was certainly better than the three of other sci-fi movies I started to watch before I found it. It's not a work of art but it's not terrible either.

Overall, this significantly improved the previous instalment and Occupation: Rainfall includes some excellent visual effects. Director Luke Sparke again goes to the next level in his directional career as he delivers something more extraordinary than ever before. While several elements of this sequel are positive, I still struggle with the plot, which sometimes felt somewhat confusing or left me with no idea of what was occurring on screen. Attempted humour is also highly cringe-worthy, but it's still highly brainless and visually pleasing to watch, no matter the film's flaws.

With its strong central performances, blockbuster-level visual effects, and its willingness to address serious issues of morality, Occupation: Rainfall is a hugely entertaining viewing experience which will leave audiences hungry for more.

Again super cheesy but wasted the time.
