This is probably my favorite animated movie ever. I prefer animated movies to live-action and I have watched plenty of animated movies from all over the world. Ne Zha tops all of those movies without a doubt. It's always been difficult for me to pick a favorite animated movie, I actually never even had one before this; Ne Zha is so different from all the others it's refreshing. I'm eager to see what this studio does in the future. Ne Zha is more for teens and adults, so if you're one of those "animation is only for kids" people, I urge you to give Ne Zha a shot; it really is worth it.

One disadvantage I can come up with is that many jokes here are cringe-worthy, like dad jokes in the early 2000s.

While undeniably annoyingly overwhelming in action sequences in the third act and messy in pacing, Ne Zha is terrific in the entire first half, very intriguing in its fantastical mythology and so gorgeously animated with spectacular visuals. It's a fantasy epic that is very engaging to watch and so stupendously mounted on multiple fronts. It truly is exciting seeing China finally get on board in the animation medium with this high-quality blockbuster.

Nezha is one of the most popular and well-known mythical characters in China. Nezha appear in many myths. There are various versions of Nezha's story, and it has been adapted many times in animation and movies. But this adaptation is revolutionary. In the original myths, Nezha is a good boy, but the plot is way more violent. In the myths, Nezha is human baby borne with divine power. His father is indifferent and strict with him. One day, Hezhan caught the Dragon Prince killing children, and then he killed the Dragon Prince (cruelly skinned the young dragon alive). When Dragon King found out, it came to Nezha's revenge. The Dragon King wanted to flood Nezha's hometown with seawater. To protect the village, Nezha committed suicide in front of the Dragon King and his parents. Later, Nezha was resurrected in the lotus and became a God. Then Nazhe destroyed the dragon palace, caught the Dragon King, and became one of the Gods of War. In other versions, Nezha killed a total of 9 dragons. Comparing to the original myth, this movie is chill and light hearted in a good way. The rebellious character of Nezha is fresh and interesting to watch. This story emphasis on the lesson of "choosing your own path", where the original version is more about "unconditional self-sacrifice" and "孝道(obedience towards elder family members)". The revised story in the film is more in line with modern values than the original myths.

Really touching and hitting the heart! Facing the misunderstanding, discrimination, and unfairness, Ne Zha, a lucky kid beloved by his parents, insisted his virtues and fought against his destined cursed life. He woke up everyone's softest part hidden inside deeply. No one is destined to be evil or criminal, love can release everyone's true nature.

I watched it with my 9 years old son. we absolutely loved it. This is my first review and it's worth the effort to let public know just how good it is. darker and more viseral than your typical Disney anime. must watch. thank me later.
