This made me cry. It's an action-drama at par with the best of "Rocky" in terms of story, direction , and acting.

Put it this way, I've probably told every person I know to watch this movie. Flannery's passion for Jiu jitsu is loud and clear.

Good movie and delivers what you would expect from the story, typically formulaic underpinned by some strong, convincing performances from Sean Patrick Flanery, Katrina Bowden and the always reliable Dennis Quaid. My major issue with the movie though was the ending, it was a real woof. So much that could have been done and I get what Ranarivelo was trying to achieve, but it was just such a whiff. A real swing and a miss that left an empty feeling.

I'm genuinely surprised that Steven Seagal isn't in it and I'm sure that whoever wrote is either a child or suffers from an fantasy crippling inferiority complex. This a movie that tries to ride the current BJJ wave but gets the whole point of Martial Arts wrong by going with the classic and boring tale of an invincible hero: a BJJ master and all around impecable perfect person that only ever lost one profesional bout, and it later turns out to be because the opponent cheated. He effortlessly whoops top tier fighters and even a former Spetsnaz despite not having any MMA experience other than BJJ and having been away from the sport for long periods of time, not to mention the fact that he suffers from a career killing injury. When you go to your first BJJ class, it's a humbling experience where you embrace failure, a safe haven to practice and get your a** whooped only to 5 seconds later shake hands and get at it again.
