Blumhouse's Fantasy Island

The absolute definition of missable.

One question remains unsolved when the credits roll: who on earth is this film for?

By its end, Fantasy Island is just another cautionary tale against remakes.

What's left is a generic exercise in studio horror with little to distinguish it beyond the proper nouns in which it wraps itself.

Fantasy Island is distinctly sub-par filmmaking full of clichés and lacking in real entertainment value. No one would call this their ultimate fantasy.

The original show is such a simple, robust conceit that there was plenty of space and opportunity to do a contemporary reboot, but this Fantasy Island is no narrative dream destination.

Dozens of incongruencies and massive plot holes are generated due to the ridiculous attempt at a Shyamalan-like twist. The two pillars of any movie (story and characters) are a total failure, making everything else fall apart with no possible salvation.

A fantasy without imagination is nothing more than reality itself. And, the reality here is, Fantasy Island is a sightly miss of a movie

One can glimpse the potential of a horror-themed Fantasy Island, if they squint and turn their head to one side, but the actual film positively reeks of a lack of effort.

“Fantasy Island” does nothing to justify its existence. It’s just a blob of fairly interesting ideas pasted together and thrown out for consumption.
